Paúba is a small WSW-facing cove just east of Maresias that only breaks on big S to SW swell, but then throws hollow, fast rights and some lefts over a shallow sandbar. NE to E wind is offshore and low to mid tide is best. The local rule: when Maresias is pumping, check Paúba. Since 2018 it has hosted the invite-only Paúba Super Tubos, with Gabriel Medina in the draw.
