A rock breakwater north of the Venice Pier holds a sandbar with peaks both ways that handle more size than the rest of Venice. Mixed W and SW swells give the best shape, and light NE wind in the morning is the window before the sea breeze. Wannasurf warns that boards break here on hollow days; on small days newer surfers sit on the softer inside sections, away from the rocks.
