A right breaks in the lee of the Turtle Bay Resort on the eastern edge of Kawela Bay, mellow by North Shore standards and good on a proper N swell, with the odd barrel section. Trade winds blow onshore here, so calm mornings or S wind are the days. Small days fill with resort guests learning. Beginners should take a lesson on the small inside waves; the reef is shallow when it gets good.
