Itacoatiara's 700 m of sand between the Costão (east) and the Pedra do Pampo (west) breaks hollow and heavy on S to SW swells, cleanest in a N to NE wind. Three peaks: Costão lefts, the Meio (hollowest, the Itacoatiara Pro bodyboard tour venue) and Pampo rights. It holds 3 m and more: tow-in teams run the Itacoatiara Big Wave here, and the Shock slab past the Pampo rock is for experts only.
