Itajaí's open beach between Cabeçudas and Balneário Camboriú takes east to northeast swell and is best with a northwest or west wind at any tide. The waves are short, hollow and shallow: most close out, but a good bank can give a fast barrel. Summer brings packed bars, swimmers and a busy line-up.
