Santinho on the north-east of the island breaks on about 150 days a year and is powerful, with barrels in autumn and winter. Southeast to east swell with a northwest or west wind works at any tide; a left breaks over rock near the corner. The Costão do Santinho end hosted the Red Nose Pro SC in 2015, and weekends are ultra crowded. Intermediate surfers should pick a sand peak mid-beach and stay away from the rocks.
