Brava, at the northern tip of the island beyond Canasvieiras, is a sandbar beach that needs east swell and a west wind and works at any tide. It has some shelter from south wind, so it can stay clean when other beaches are blown out. Waves are powerful and start working at about 1 m. In summer the beach and the road fill with visitors; intermediate surfers should go early, before the crowd and the sea breeze.
