Ribanceira, the long beach north of Imbituba town, is the local fallback when a south wind wrecks Ibiraquera: here a south swell with a south or southwest wind can give long sandbar rides, mostly rights. It works at any tide and holds up to about 3 m. On good days it gets busy. Intermediate surfers can learn the banks on small south swells, keeping clear of the rips between sandbars.
