Laguna's town beach runs north from the lagoon-channel jetties and takes southeast to east swell, best with a west or southwest wind at any tide. Most days it is fast and fun, both ways; on classic days it barrels, and the rights by the jetties are the best-known peak. Summer brings parties, crowds and dirtier water. Intermediate surfers can park in front of the beach and choose a quieter peak away from the jetties.
