The left wraps off the rocks below the Farol da Barra lighthouse and only wakes up on a solid south swell, mostly May to August. On those days it can run 150 m or more along the point, with a north wind offshore. Rocks sit close under the take-off and crowds come fast once word gets out. East of it, Barravento is a crowded beach break by the Morro do Cristo; Espanhol, west, takes over when the swell is too big.
