Ponta da Fruta is the south end of Vila Velha, where sandbars run on toward Praia d'Ulé. Southeast swell of 0.4 to 1.8 m builds mellow peaks both ways that are easy to paddle into, with a northwest wind offshore; a rising mid tide is best. A lifeguard and a surf shop are on the beach. Beginners: stay on the sand peaks away from the rocks at the point, and move south only once you can turn.
