Lefts in two parts at Curanipe, a fishing town in the Pelluhue district whose name means black rock: La Cruz peels off the rocks up the point, and the long, sometimes hollow Tres Peñas lefts run down to the black-sand river mouth. It works on SW to S swell with a south wind and is used for contests. Surfers still learning should pick a small day and keep clear of the river current.
