These are the rules for using Surf Spoting, run by the person who runs surfspoting.com. By creating an account or using the site you agree to them. Last updated 2026-10-18.
What Surf Spoting is
A free guide to surf spots, with forecasts, satellite pictures, webcam links, learning pages and tools to plan and record surfing. It is made with care and offered as it is.
Surfing is dangerous: use your own judgement
Forecasts, ratings, tide times, hazards and guides are estimates from models and from public sources. They can be wrong, late or out of date.
Look at the sea and decide yourself. Nothing here is a safety service, a lifeguard report, a navigation aid or professional advice.
You surf, travel and swim at your own risk. We are not responsible for injuries, losses or damage that follow from using the information.
Check access, rules and local advice (signs, lifeguards, harbour authorities). Respect private land and local surfers.
Your account
You must be 16 or older, and give a real email address that is yours.
Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
You can delete your account at any time in your profile.
We may suspend an account that abuses the service (spam, harassment, attacks, scraping at scale).
What you add
Sessions, notes, spots, chat messages and feedback are yours. You let us store and show them as the features need: to you, and to the people you choose (team, plan, buddies).
Do not post anything unlawful, abusive, or private about other people, and do not add someone’s email as a buddy without their agreement.
The service may change, stop, or be down. We try to keep it running but give no guarantee. We may change these terms; the date above shows the latest version.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, or for loss caused by relying on the information. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Your rights as a consumer stay as they are.
Law
These terms follow the law of Portugal. Disputes go to the courts there, without limiting the rights you have as a consumer where you live.
