San Blas, 3 km west of the La Libertad port, packs four waves into about 1 km of black sand. El Recodo is a short, steep right over rocks at the creek mouth on the east end; next comes a rock patch with an easy right and a faster left, surfed on high tide. A left over the rocks and the wreck of the San Blas freighter (aground since 1901) is for experts. Learners use the sandbanks toward El Majahual.
