A sandy state beach on the Pacific Grove side of the Monterey Peninsula takes swell from every direction and holds up to about 3.5 m. Three zones: Roadsides, a right at the north end near the road; Middles, a punchy peak mid-beach; and the Reef, a left at the south end that Surfline counts among the hardest waves in the region. Prefer Roadsides or Middles on a small, incoming tide.
