North of Moonstone Beach, the sandbar beside Camel Rock (also called Houda Point or 6th Avenue) can line up like a right point for 100 m, or close out, depending on the year's sand. The rock shelters it from N and NW wind, so Humboldt surfers flock here on sunny, windy days with a big swell. A paddling channel runs next to the rock. Newer surfers do better on the flat sand of Moonstone just south.
