The spots
Lakey Peak · reef break, intermediate, best on S/SSW swell with E/ENE wind, all tides. A well-known reef peak with a long left and shorter right in Hu'u Bay on Sumbawa. Mornings before the onshore wind are the best time to surf it.
Lakey Pipe · reef break, advanced, best on SW/S swell with E/SE/NE wind, mid to high tide. Hollow left next to Lakey Peak at Hu'u, a short, tubing wave that is shallower and more critical than its neighbour.
Nungas · reef break, intermediate, best on SW/S/SE swell with NE/ENE wind, mid to high tide. Left-hand reef a short ride up the coast from Lakey Peak, working on southwest to south swell with a northeast breeze. Quieter than the main Lakey breaks.
Periscopes · reef break, advanced, best on SW/S/SE swell with N/NNW/NNE wind, high tide. Right-hand reef north of Lakey that only works at high tide on southwest to south swell with a northerly breeze. Experienced surfers only.
Cobblestones · reef break, intermediate, best on SW/SSW swell with E/ENE/NE wind, all tides. Reef south of Lakey Peak that picks up southwest swell with an east to northeast breeze. Surf-Forecast describes it as very consistent and uncrowded even when working.
