Flying with a surfboard on Air Transat
Sports fee · up to 292 cm · 32 kg · 1 board per bag. Fee: 100 CAD prepaid (US$100 / €80 / £65), 115 CAD at the airport (US$115 / €90 / £75); same price for Europe, the South, the USA and within Canada.
Booking: Prepay and preregister up to 72 hours before departure; Air Transat advise doing it when you book because hold space is limited
- max 292 cm (9.6 ft) in linear dimensions (length + width + height), so long boards may not fit
- max 32 kg (70 lb); no overweight or oversize fees on top
- 1 board (inflatable or not), plus 1 paddle, 1 helmet, or 1 mast and sail packed together but separately from the board
- only sports gear in the bag: no clothes or personal items
- prepaying does not guarantee a place: it depends on hold space, confirmed at check-in
- not accepted on codeshare flights or flights run by another airline
- the page does not say per direction for boards; the bicycle line on the same page is priced per item, per flight segment
- on package holidays, some hotels charge extra to transfer sports gear
