Flying with a surfboard on IndiGo
Sports fee. Fee: INR 2,000 domestic / INR 3,500 international per equipment, prepaid online (taxes included); the airport special-baggage fee is quoted as INR 1,200 domestic / INR 2,500 international.
Booking: Prepay online (up to three items), or tell IndiGo's call centre at least 48 h before departure (10% extra when booked by phone)
- surf boards are named as special checked baggage
- the board's weight also counts towards your normal allowance; excess baggage charges come on top of the fee
- IndiGo's own pages disagree on the amounts, and third-party sites quote up to INR 4,000 at the airport on international flights, so check in the booking flow
- size limits are shown only as an image on the official page; oversized items are refused, and ATR 72 regional flights are likely tighter, so ask IndiGo
