Flying with a surfboard on PAL Express
Checked bag or sports fee · 32 kg. Fee: PHP 3,000 (USD 54) per sector for up to 15 kg of extra sports baggage on domestic flights (Sports Equipment Fee); otherwise excess baggage rates.
Booking: Sports Equipment Fee can be bought from booking up to 4 h before departure (PAL website, app, ticket offices, call centre, travel agents)
- PAL publishes no separate PAL Express rules; its flights are sold as Philippine Airlines (PR) flights, so PAL's sports rules apply
- one surfboard counts as one piece of the free baggage allowance; extra boards pay excess baggage
- PAL's 277 cm (109 in) board limit is stated for jet aircraft only; no limit is published for Q400/Q300 turboprops, so ask before flying a long board
- PAL warned of limited cargo space and slow baggage handling on Siargao flights around the WSL event (31 Oct to 10 Nov 2026); boards may be left for a later flight
- board bag must protect against dents and scratches; PAL's tariff asks for fins removed or taped and a signed limited-release tag
- Sports Equipment Fee not sold on Basco or Busuanga flights; 15 kg bought is per flight, unused weight forfeited
