Flying with a surfboard on Wings Air
Counts as a checked bag.
- all-ATR 72 turboprop fleet with small cargo doors; surf guides report a cap of about 170-200 cm and longboards often refused
- Lion Air Group rules treat sports equipment as normal checked baggage, but Wings Air includes no free checked bag (tickets issued from 17 July 2025), so you pay for the weight
- surf guides quote about IDR 200,000 to 1,000,000 per board on ATR routes (not on an official page)
- travellers report boards turned away on some routes (e.g. Kupang to Rote, Medan to Nias); confirm with Lion Air Group customer care before you book
- no official length limit or surfboard fee published; ask the airline
- carrier liability for checked bags on domestic flights is very low under the Lion Air Group terms
