An artificial reef of sand-filled bags, built to stop beach erosion, sits off Narrowneck between Main Beach and Surfers Paradise. It shapes a right on SE swells and a left when the swell swings NE, from 0.6 to 2 m with a W to NW wind. It holds shape on junky days when Surfers turns to mush. Beginners should use the beach peaks either side, not the reef take-off.
