Lancelin Reef surf forecast
Lancelin · Western Australia · Australia
The bay in front of town is calm because a chain of reefs 500 m to 1 km out takes the swell. The waves break on those reefs, seaward of the main jetty. Windsurfers name four sections: Main Break, Passage Shallows, Hole in the Wall (a right) and South Passage at the north end, which they call the cleanest. It needs a west to south-west groundswell and an easterly, so go early, before the afternoon south-westerly turns it into a kite spot. Paddling out is a long way, so on small days or for learners Back Beach, south of town, is the better call.
