Praia Grande runs south from Prainha for many kilometres, and locals use it when Prainha is crowded or messy. Southeast swell with a northwest or west wind makes peaks both ways at any tide, and you can walk until you have one to yourself. The sandbars sit far from the shore, so expect a long paddle and a lot of time spent outside. Beginners should only try small days near the north end, close to Prainha.
