Named after the cannon on the shore in front of it, El Cañón is a left over lava reef inside the San Cristóbal navy base, a 10 to 15 minute walk from Puerto Baquerizo; show or leave ID at the gate. N to NW swells from November to April are prime, and wrapping SW swells also reach it. Paddle out from the small sea lion beach 100 m before the cannon, keep 2 m from the animals, and avoid dead low tide.
