Sand piles up on the east side of the Iztapa river-mouth jetties, and a solid SW swell turns it into longer, hollower rights; extra peaks form between the jetties once it gets big. Everything depends on the banks: good when the sand sits right, closeouts when it does not. Mid to high tide works best. Weekends bring a few surfers from Guatemala City; on weekdays you may be alone.
