About 4 km of grey sand southwest of León, Salinas Grandes has peaks spread all the way up to the river mouth, so there is room to find your own bank. It likes a peaky W swell and the NE offshore. On small days it is a friendly place to learn, with a local surf school on the beach; once the swell is overhead, currents run hard along the shore and beginners should stay out.
