Undeveloped National Seashore island reached by ferry from Hatteras, open to S and SE swells that miss much of Dare County. Waves are fast and racy, best with a NW wind at low to mid tide, and the outer bar needs at least 3 feet to break. Plenty of beach accesses and beach driving to find an empty peak; often not worth the trip.
