A kink in Melkbos beach turns the summer southeaster offshore at its two main peaks, Tube Wave and A-House. Tube Wave needs a solid southwest to northwest swell and a pushing tide to throw right-hand barrels over sand; when the tide drains, the rip drags surfers off the peak into the closeouts. Parking is right in front. On small days learners can use the beach, but they should stay well clear of the rip channel.
