At the east end of Hermanus, beside Kammabaai, a rock reef throws short, hollow rights, with a lesser left, on clean south to southwest swells of 1 to 2 m. North to northeast wind is offshore, and low tide can produce solid barrels over the shallow ledge. Bodyboarders fill much of the lineup. Beginners should not paddle out over the urchin-covered rocks; Grotto Beach's sand starts a few hundred metres east.
