Southbroom's right breaks over a rock ledge and sand on the lower South Coast and can be ridden for a few hundred metres on a good winter swell. South to east swells with west to northwest wind are best, at low to mid tide. The takeoff is quick and it gets hollow, so speed off the bottom matters. Beginners should watch from the beach first; the takeoff sits over the ledge.
