Ponta Negra is the east corner of Maricá's 30 km beach, tucked under the lighthouse headland like Arpoador in Rio. SW swells pile sand against the canal jetty; on small to medium S and SE swells that bank gives a full right toward the canal and a hollower left toward the beach, best in NW to E wind. Above 1.5 m an outside slab breaks too. Beginners: use small S swells on the inside bank, away from the jetty.
