Capão da Canoa's long town beach has sandbars that work on south-southeast to east swell with a west-northwest wind, best at mid tide. Waves are fun and ordinary, both ways, and it is busy in summer. Fishermen's nets are a real danger along this coast, so check the water before paddling out. Beginners should stay in the lifeguard zones in summer and avoid the currents beside the sandbars.
