In Olivença, south of Ilhéus, Back Door is a right point that barrels over a shelf of boulders and sand, then peels about 300 m toward the beach. Southeast swell and a southwest wind are best, and it holds its shoulder when the wind swings southeast. It is the Ilhéus crew's contest wave, so the lineup fills fast; more sand and rock peaks spread out to the north.
