Prainha sits in a forested bay 40 minutes' walk south of Ribeira, with steep, punchy peaks over sand. The best lefts come off the rocks at the north end on an east-northeast swell, and a due south swell also lights it up; a west wind is offshore. Channels at each end help the paddle out. The trail forks a lot and has had thefts, so locals advise going with a guide from the Ribeira car park.
