Manta's city beach faces north, so it works on NW and N swells from December to April while a SE wind blows offshore. Punchy sand peaks break both ways, and the wedge locals call El Escondido jacks up beside the jetty at the east end. Bodyboarders fill it when it is good. A lifeguard and surf shops are close; newer surfers should pick a small day and stay away from the jetty.
