Le Lion surf forecast

Lacanau · Gironde · France

Open the live forecast →

A wild forest beach about 4 km south of Lacanau Océan, reached by the Route du Lion, named after a ship that ran aground here. A north–south sandbank produces long waves with a steep take-off and a chance of a barrel on good sets. The peak in front of the lifeguards gets busy in summer; the sides are emptier but less shapely. Suits experienced surfers because of the currents.
