Buraco surf forecast
Buraco (Mussulo) · Luanda · Angola
Fishing village on the Mussulo spit where the coast bends from north-south to northeast, about 8 km up the sand tracks from the Palmeirinhas end, past the Shipwreck turn-off. The bend shelters it from the usual swell, so it needs a big southwest or a solid west swell: WannaSurf puts it at about five days a year. When it does break, the left starts small at the point and gains speed down the sandbank, with hollow sections and rides that can pass 500 m. Unlike the rest of the Luanda coast it wants a south or southeast wind, and the low half of a rising tide works best. WannaSurf advises going with local surfers, who know where and when it breaks.
