Eastern Beach is East London's central beach break, shifting sandbars in front of the Quigney beachfront between Nahoon and the harbour. It peels both ways at any tide, with northwest wind offshore and summer northeast swells or south-southeast groundswell of 0.5 to 1.8 m. Lifeguards, a surf school and board hire make it the town's learner beach; first-timers should stay in the whitewater near the lifeguard tower.
