Same stretch of sand as Carvalhal, 1.6 km to the north, but the beach turns a little more to the west, so an east wind is the cleanest here. The Surf Atlas calls the waves almost identical to Carvalhal's with far fewer schools in the water; Wannasurf rates them short and soft, best on a falling tide near low. For a first session pick a 0.5 to 1 m W to NW swell at low to mid tide. Imagine Surf School is based on this beach. The car park fills and is often paid in summer, so come early and walk to the quieter south end. Lifeguards from mid June to mid September.
