Signposted as an unguarded beach, and usually few people. A tarmac road runs to a car park right by the dunes, signposted from a roundabout on the Santo André to Sines road. The regional guide lists it for surfing and windsurfing, and Time Out says the sea is the same as at Melides and Santo André. That means open WNW-facing sand with shifting peaks on a W to NW swell, cleanest on an E to ESE wind. Naturists use the south end. Little surf detail exists, so treat it as a quiet alternative to Santo André, 3.8 km north, rather than a better wave.
